Flood Emergency Response-2022

Pakistan experienced extraordinary rainfall in mid-July 2022 and continue till now. Result was ‎unprecedented floods affecting the entire length of the country especially within Baluchistan and Koh-‎e-Suleman belt. The floods have been assessed to be the worst since after 2010 and hill torrents hit ‎most of the cities parallel with Koh-e-Suleman. According to the damages list of National Disaster ‎Management Authority (NDMA) the rains/floods 63 male, 21 female and 35 children death causalities ‎have occurred in Punjab. As per latest report of NDMA 2813 KM roads, 119 bridges, 32428 houses ‎partially damage and 10478 fully damages of houses reported in all over Pakistan and similarly 23,103 ‎livestock swept away in flood. Additionally, flash floods and landslides triggered by the rain caused ‎severe damage to infrastructure in the affected areas. Entire villages have been washed away, urban ‎centers have been flooded, homes have been destroyed, and thousands of acres of crops and ‎agricultural lands have been damaged with major soil erosion happening in some areas. In this ‎situation most and urgent need of daily routine food is very important for the displaced and flood ‎affected families. Because due to damages of houses their livelihood and other channels of food ‎supplies has been blocked and people are suffering and facing this challenges for their families. SKS ‎reached in most affected areas of Tehsil Taunsa Sharif to rescue and providing them cooked food, dry ‎ration, hygiene kits and NFIs to fulfill their ultimate needs in this situation. SKS team till now has ‎provided the cooked food for 5000 persons, 500 food parcels, 250 Hygiene Kits and 250 NFIs for the ‎flood affected communities of Qila Saifullah, Muslim Bagh in Baluchistan, Basti Chitani, Sokar, ‎Manghrotha, Faizabad, Shahalwala, Makwal and Basti Buzdar and many more in Tehsil Taunsa Sharif ‎and simlitaneously SKS respond for the communities resident at the bank of Band Bosan with River ‎Chanab and provided them cooked food. Still it increase the area of damages due to Hill Torrents of ‎Koh-e-Suleman and relief work from the respondents is very slow and immediate need of clothes, ‎shelter, health and temporary shelter should be arranged as soon as possible.‎
